1. General Provisions

This Privacy Policy describes how SeaJobs processes and protects personal data of users of the SeaJobs website located at seajobs.ru and applies to data that the website operator receives when users interact with the platform.

This Policy has been prepared with due regard to Federal Law No. 152-FZ dated July 27, 2006 On Personal Data and other applicable laws of the Russian Federation.

The Policy applies to personal data processed when users register and use seafarer or company accounts, create and publish resumes, vacancies, company profiles, job applications, bulletin board posts, contact messages, notifications, and other website features, as well as when users simply browse the site.

Where the law requires a separate consent for a specific action, SeaJobs requests that consent separately. This Policy does not replace such consents and does not replace the Terms of Use.

2. What Data We Process

Depending on how the site is used, SeaJobs may process the following categories of personal data:

Website visitors:

  • IP address, cookies, session identifiers, browser and device information, language, visit time, page visits, and on-site actions.
  • Technical data that may be sent to anti-bot and form protection services when such protection is enabled.

Job seekers and registered seafarers:

  • account data: email address, password in protected form, and service identifiers;
  • profile and resume data: first name, last name, patronymic where available, citizenship, country and city of residence, date of birth, gender, desired position, work history, sea service, education, qualifications, languages, skills, certificates, diplomas, cover information, and other data entered by the user;
  • contact data: phone number, email address, messenger links, or other communication channels entered by the user;
  • profile photo. SeaJobs treats such a photo as ordinary personal data and does not use it for biometric identification;
  • documents and files uploaded to the profile or attached to applications.

Employers and company representatives:

  • company representative account data: email address, password in protected form, and service identifiers;
  • company profile and vacancy data: company name, country, city, address, website, company description, contact details, vacancy details, and other data posted through the platform;
  • data needed to verify a company and manage candidates through vacancy and Pipeline interfaces.

Users of guest forms:

  • for guest vacancy applications: name, email address, phone number, cover letter text, uploaded CV file, and related technical sending data;
  • for bulletin board posts: name, contact details, post text, IP address, and moderation or abuse-prevention data;
  • for contact messages: name, email address, message text, and IP address.

Users of notifications and paid services:

  • data required for email notifications and, where the user enables it, Telegram account data needed to deliver notifications;
  • order, tariff, price, payment status, and technical payment identifiers. SeaJobs does not process full bank card details; those details are processed by the payment provider.

Please do not submit excessive data or special categories of personal data or biometric data unless this is expressly required by the website feature and has a separate lawful basis.

3. Purposes and Legal Grounds

SeaJobs processes personal data on the following legal grounds: the data subjects consent; the need to enter into and perform the Terms of Use and other arrangements with the user; compliance with legal obligations; and the legitimate rights and interests of the website operator and other users, provided that the rights and freedoms of the data subject are not violated.

  • registering, authenticating, and administering user accounts;
  • creating, storing, editing, and publishing resumes, vacancies, company profiles, and bulletin board posts;
  • organising job applications, communication between candidates and employers, and recruitment workflow, including Pipeline;
  • processing user requests, support enquiries, and messages sent through the contact form;
  • sending service notifications and messages related to accounts, vacancies, applications, subscriptions, and other platform events;
  • sending informational or promotional materials where there is an appropriate consent or another lawful basis, while allowing users to opt out;
  • maintaining website security and protecting the service from bots, spam, fraud, and other abuse;
  • moderating user content and enforcing platform rules;
  • accounting for orders, enabling paid services, confirming payments, and performing related obligations;
  • preparing statistics, analytics, and internal reporting in anonymised or aggregated form where possible;
  • complying with the laws of the Russian Federation, resolving disputes, and protecting the rights of SeaJobs and other persons.

4. How Data Is Used on the Site

Information that a user intentionally publishes in a resume, company profile, vacancy, or bulletin board post may be made available to other users to the extent provided by the relevant interface and service logic.

Company profile data, vacancy information, and bulletin board posts may be publicly available where such content is intended for public publication by its nature.

Resume and candidate profile data is provided to employers and company representatives through SeaJobs only to the extent necessary for recruitment, communication with candidates, and the hiring workflow. Where a user uses guest application or direct CV sending features, the relevant data is sent to the employer or selected company.

Persons who gain access to personal data through SeaJobs must use that data only for job search, recruitment, vacancy-related communication, and other purposes arising from the platform functionality and applicable law.

5. Cookies, Logs, and Form Protection

SeaJobs uses cookies and similar technologies to operate the website, maintain user sessions, remember language and selected settings, provide security, prevent abuse, and improve user experience.

The website may also maintain technical logs that record requests, IP addresses, errors, interface actions, and anti-spam checks.

Some forms may use Google reCAPTCHA to protect the site from automated submissions. Where those forms are used, data is also processed in accordance with Google policies and terms.

Users may change cookie settings in their browser. Some website functions may not work correctly or may become unavailable if cookies are disabled.

6. Sharing With Third Parties

SeaJobs does not sell personal data. Personal data may be shared or processing may be entrusted to third parties only to the extent necessary to operate the website, perform obligations to the user, comply with the law, and protect the lawful rights and interests of SeaJobs and its users.

Personal data may be shared with or disclosed to:

  • employers and companies to whom the user sends an application, CV, or other materials through the platform;
  • contractors and technical providers that support hosting, data storage, email delivery, queues, notifications, and other infrastructure functions;
  • the payment provider for paid service transactions;
  • services used for form protection or notifications, including Google reCAPTCHA and Telegram, when the user uses those features;
  • state authorities, courts, and other authorised persons where required by the laws of the Russian Federation.

If the use of a particular website feature results in a cross-border transfer of personal data, such transfer is performed only where permitted by law and in compliance with the legal requirements of the Russian Federation.

7. Storage and Security

When collecting personal data of citizens of the Russian Federation, the recording, systematisation, accumulation, storage, updating, and retrieval of such data is carried out using databases located in the Russian Federation.

SeaJobs takes the necessary legal, organisational, and technical measures to protect personal data against unlawful or accidental access, destruction, modification, blocking, copying, disclosure, distribution, and other unlawful actions.

Such measures may include access control, authentication, security event logging, backups, secure transmission protocols, anti-virus protection, internal procedures, and contractual confidentiality obligations.

Personal data is retained no longer than necessary for the relevant processing purposes, unless a longer retention period is required by law, by contract, or for the protection of SeaJobs rights in the event of a dispute. Once the processing purposes have been achieved or the data is no longer needed, the data is deleted or anonymised unless the law requires otherwise.

8. Data Subject Rights

A data subject has the right to obtain information about the processing of their personal data, request rectification, blocking, or deletion of personal data where the data is incomplete, outdated, inaccurate, unlawfully obtained, or no longer needed for the declared processing purpose, and withdraw consent where processing is based on consent.

The user may also request termination of processing, challenge the actions or inaction of the operator before Roskomnadzor or in court, and protect their rights and lawful interests by other lawful means.

A request may be sent through the available account interfaces, where such functionality exists, or to support@seajobs.ru. For security reasons, SeaJobs may ask for information required to confirm the identity of the applicant and the connection between the applicant and the requested data.

Requests are answered within the time limits established by the laws of the Russian Federation. As of the date of this update, the general response period is usually 10 business days and may be extended by another 5 business days where permitted by law and where the applicant is notified.

9. Changes to This Policy

SeaJobs may amend this Policy. The new version becomes effective once published on the website unless the new version states otherwise.

The current version of the Policy is always available at /policy. Where changes are material, SeaJobs may also notify users through the site interface, by email, or by another available method.
